GIFS of particular effects used

I cut out a short vlips and made it into a clip to show a particular effect. This worked effectively in the transition of the 2 lip syncing clips. My viewers appreciated this transition and said it worked truly well particularly in the studio shots including others in addition to this.

This GIF i have used the time allotment and have expanded the rate to 200% in one clip and decreased it to half in the other but both have been desaturated so as to reveal to them as flashbacks and memories in this fragmented video. The viewers were pleased in the shot angles as one is an establishing shot and the other a tracking shot.

I have expanded the rate of the time lapse to 300%. This shot is effective in our music video as its a period lapse shot which is unique in relation to different shots. My viewers loved the way that I shot this with relentless hands without using the case to hold the cam and the effect i attempt to apply was blury and fast motion. I stood  for 5 minutes in one place for this shot for it to be succsessful as it shows devotion and responsibility to the group, particularly going out in my own particular time.

mirror effect

With the assistance of Morshed In todays media session we managed to flip the video and use both versions by merging them together on Final Cut Pro with the utilization of the effect 'flop'. when we first put both clips together the noses of both clips were touching hence we pulled them further far from one another with the use of the cropping tool and by essentially dragging the clips far from one another on the small altering screen.

Working progress

whilst these shooting moments, it was imporant that the female actress and Morshed resembled a couple we managed to perform such scenes. We chose to use black and white as the colour of the flashbacks all through the video in slow motion by reducing the rate by 50% of every flashback scene. In light of this effect, we attained a slow beat video which associated with the slow rhythm music and verses during that scene.

final cut pro editing

What we have done is utilized the same clip ontop of one another on Final Cut Pro and by cropping every video into equal parts making it resemble one clip by uniting both together. The left a large portion of the clip plays first and we managed to stop frame it so it freezes after its part and the other 50% of the clip carries on where the first half left off.

locations

This picture was taken in stratford city London where we think we can shoot/record the "break-up" scene as the location will be loaded with individuals which will provide for us the chance to utilize the smear impact and concentrate on the couple and smudge other people out. I accept this is a solid impact as the crowd's consideration will surely be on the couple which highlights the importance of the scene itself. There was some examination to whether we tought to put the filter  i 'black & white' to the scene. We will attempt it and check whether it looks great and in the event that it runs with the verses and feeling of that

location 1 westfield with background (blury lights )

This picture was taken before our blurred out shot of the city and car lights which we introduce half way through the song during the rap. Its actual utilization was for the video but because of the poor lighting, the video turned out unprofessional however the pictures, in any case, looked great and subsequently we chose to do some work ahead for the CD covers.

actors and mise en scene

Concerning the hero (principle character) we have picked Morshed as that would be the most suitable as he will clearly be focused on the group and be persuaded to exceed expectations. Because of him being the principle acter, did not imply that I didnt engage in editing and the diverse shots that were taken. I have been helping my group since the contrsuction of our storyboard for the music video. All the shoots i have been comitted in and the outside shots too also the lighting not be missed out my translation of the lighting for the genre of our music video was dark, black and white and blury lights. This made a big impact to our music video and made it related to the genre.
We decided Monica would be an immaculate match for the role of the girlfriend in our music video. As she is a friend of morshed (Male character), she will be reliable as far as turning up on shooting days and focused on the group and music video. the actress was advised to wear something comfortable and the shooting occurred at her home where she felt comfortable. We tried to get as many good shots as possible for example, a longshot of her body to show her body language in the bed, which in this shows that she misses him.

indoor shoots

This picture was taken inside the studio in light of the fact that we concurred with the exposure and density of the lighting (which was situated up by my group and I) as we needed to demonstrate the shadow element in the corner/one side of the screen whilst lighting up the other side. this effect was utilized as a part of a large number of the case studies of the music videos which we investigated and is to be sure one the music conventions, particularly in Drake's videos which we attempted to replicate with our own thoughts blended in.

In the studio

A photo when i was in the studio adjusting the volume for the song that we will be using for our music video. I replayed the same song about 10 times till we had a variety of shots (close up, long shot, mid shot and extreme close up) our acter Morshed did this by lip syncing and mimiking the lyrics .

Storyboard plan for our shoot

These are some of the pictures that we will be using to put forward on our pre-production folder. Its useful to plan first the type of shots and where and when we will be doing the specific shooting. For example in one of them we have a close up if our acters faces on a profile shot looking eye to eye which represents love and emotion between the two.

Treatment evaluation/feedback

One of the queations that was asked by the aduience is, if we were using one of our group members as an actor in the music video.

Taking into account we will be because we all beleive as a team that our gorup member Morshed will suit the role perfectly as his got some experience in acting himself i also will like to say that he will be an ideal charcter because he potrays a young adults looks for example, his facial hair, his hairstyle and his clothing choice will fir out character. we believe that he is also photogenic so every shot and every angle we take will be good.

Our teacher suggested to look at the music video of 'The Pharcyde' by The drop
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=co3qMdkucM0

This music video is a very useful example for how half of our music video will consist of, which is rewinds and flasbacks. In the Pharcyde the whole musiv cideo is based on rewinds and this is very creative and intresting as it draws the audiences attention because of the unique edit that it has which is rewinding but at the sametime getting the lip syncing right. This is a very good technique and we consider using this in our music video. Half of it will consist of rewinding with a narative and half looking at the audience. We plan to use in our music videos rewinds of smashed bottels, rewinding back to its original state and we also want to use a shisha pen which i think will look very cool in rewind.

Treatment

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GvWRQ_c2Szw <-- link to our Treatment.

This our treatment. In this video we sell our ideas to our audience explaining what song we will be using and what type of shots ,where and when. This will also include actors. We will have a couple which has an argument and in result of breaking and this will be shown through through half narative (story) and half of the video actually singing to the audience. We will consider in our music video a variety of locations too, for example, the studio in the college and we can achieve this by getting permission from the teachers and when we do get to use it we will use a black back drop to set the mood of the video and be relative to the lyrics of the song. The length of the video will be about 4 minutes long and it will have a variety of shots. Our audience will mainly be from 15-25 year olds because thats the age group where you will experience heartbreaks and relationship problems as our song choice is about a breeak up. We will broadcast our music video on Social sites such as YouTube or Facebook and many more channels.

Case Study

In this task (Task 2) i will be choosing the  three music videos of my own choice and evaluating them one by one.

1.) The Weeknd - King Of The Fall

Date music video released: August 28th 2014 - XO productions
This track 'King Of The Fall' that I have chosen represents the party life of 'The Weeknd' a Canadian artist which is famously known for his r&b, soul and hip-hop based music. In this music video as you can see we have a very dark and blury image of a party thats taking place at his house. This particular track is hip&hop through its beats and the music video. It represents a teenager's life that goes and has a few drinks and party's over the weekend's with his/her mates. This is a linear narrative because in the first scene we see him comming out his house by getting ready when his fixing his hair and putting his jacket on. The theme is a ghetto environment where there are gangs and viloence 'Queen street' as he mentions in his song is an old place that he used to 'roam'.

Camera; This shot is a low angle shot. this is achieved by putting the camera down near his knees and and tilting the back of the camera down so that we have somemeaning of what this picture suggests. Its shows that our artist 'The Weeknd' has a status and power in his city. He tries to show us that he is familiar with this place and that he is not lost. Infact, the house behind him is the house where he based his old album 'House of Balloons'.

Camera: This is a extreme long shot of the view. This place suggests to us that the buildings are still in construction as you can see from the cranes in the back. It looks unfinished or it could be that they are being broken down. this just goes to show that maybe 'The Weeknd's life is not complete and is unfinished like the buildings.

Editing: There are alot of cuts in the opening of the video , this is intentionaly done to catch our attention and to leave us clueless which draws our attention more. There are totall of 3 cuts in the 1st second of the music video. the colour edit of the video is dark and faded most of the time.

Mise-en-scene: The location of this music video is in a ghetto place in Toronto. It looks like a abonden place. The lighting is not that bright as you can see, it hasent got bright colours but its a faded lighting. Costumes are mostly black aswell it shows a dark and bad side of the video, it doesnt include alot of colourful vibes. The woman have make up on, this shows that they care about their looks yet go partys.

Sound & dialogue: The timing of the miming and the audio went very well although there was a part in the video where it was slowmotion the lyrics were still on point with the miming which i htought worked ver well.

Target Audience: Tennagers (16-25) i think is the audience for this kind of music it represents a young person life through parties and getting drunk.

I think that when it comes to our music video we will be using some techniques such as slowmotion and dark camera editing. With multiple of different shots.

2.) Drake - Started From The Bottom

'Started From The Bottom' - Date released Februrary 13 2013 - Director X
The genere of this song is hip&hop , it shows the story of Drake growing up and the recent jobs and hobbies he had in the past as well as showing his current progress that he made with music , as you can see in the images he tries to tell us that he started from the bottom and now his at a stage where everything is possible. For this reason i believe that he has used a linear narrative because he shows the progression he has made throughout his life to now. The video soesnt include any form of animaation , they're all real.

The theme of this song is to show how successful Drake has become over social media he is famous for his popular songs. The main character is drake in this video.

Camera: This shot is a point of view shot (POV) this tries to show us the life that Drake lives and the places he goes and his hobbies which is golf as you can see there are 3 golf cars.

Editing: There is alot of cutting in the music video , this creats the effect of excitement for the viewers and draws them in.

Mise-en-scene; The video is shot in many different locations, football pitch, private jet, at a store, at drakes house and on the road. There are use of vehicaels and bottles and glasses in the video.
Sound; The miming is on point with the audio and at one point the music stops in the video to show a reailty scene where Drake and his friends are surving customers.

Target audience; The targer audience is the young generation mainly.

I could use some ideas from this music video. For example when the audio stops and there is a real life scene which adds more meaning to the song, it shows a story behind the song.

3.) Rihanna - We Found Love ft.Calvin Harris

Date song was released: october 19 2011
Rihanna tells her love story though this video, it starts as being in love with her boyfriend and living together but through disagreement they fight and eventually brake up.

Canera: This is an extreme close up of an eye. Its so close that you could see the detail in the eye which i beleive is a very good technuiqe to use. This shot was used to show the side effects od drugs and this made it clear that the eye was effected by a drugs side effect.

Editing; Theres alot of editing with the added lights through software. This makes the video more magical and eye catching because it shows bright colours and this was attractive for me. The cuts are very useful it showed different settings very quickly, This also tells us the stort between two couples, this tells us that the couple have been to alot places and all those settings were added up to a 5 second montage which was very useful.

Mise-en-scene: There are several locations that this is shot in for example, in a the boyfriends flat, in the car, play gorund, skateground and a muddy party in the rain. The clothes that were worn looked quite rough, this tells us that there love was rough too because they had alot of arguments an they did drugs.

Audience: The target audience is people who are mainly teenagers because it tells a teenagers love story but in a rough, punky and dark way.

We could use this example in our own work by shooting our short video in various settings.
